Academics
Our elementary program at HCES ranges from Pre-School through 6th grade. In addition to the teacher, each classroom at HCES has the availability of an Educational Assistant to provide extra support for the teachers and students. Having Educational Assistants available serves our students by lowering the student-to-staff ratio and allowing more individualized attention for students when needed.
At HCES we believe in a well-rounded education. We begin teaching Spanish to our students beginning in first grade. We are blessed with a wonderful computer lab, allowing every student state of the art equipment on which to learn. Our students are well rounded with music and art as well and conditioned by our physical education program. For those who need it, Passport is available to improve reading and comprehension skill.
Hawk Awards
Winter 2008 Hawk Tag Recipients
Horizon students who earn a Hawk Tag are considered trustworthy and responsible by all of their teachers, by the aides that watch them at lunch and at recess and by the school principal.
This program is open to all 3rd-6th grade students who have earned at least 10 consecutive days of no warnings or disiplinary actions.
Each student must submit a complete application form after obtaining the signatures of their teacher, the principal, their specialists and teacher's aides.
Upon acceptence each student will recieve their "Hawk Tag" and be awarded special priviliges. Hawk Status will be revoked if any disiplinary action is recieved.
